Data from Landsat-5 and Landsat-7 imagery were used in a project to schedule irrigation for fields in the Texas High Plains. The project also made use of weather data from the West Texas Mesonet. Daily water use estimated from the satellite and weather data were used in a soil water balance to track soil water depletion and signal the need for irrigation. Results of the project were verified using actual measurements of crop water use obtained from eddy covariance measurements.
