Workshops Growing interest in the application of experiential learning methods for undergraduate and graduate teaching elevates the need to bring instructors with experience together with those interested in learning more and applying such methods. This half-day workshop will bring an experienced facilitator from the Nordic Region with 15 years of practical instruction and mentoring in agroecology [farming and food systems] and a strong publication record. He will join key ASA members who also have successful experience in action research and learning to lead a participatory workshop to share their ideas and respond to questions from other instructors who are interested in using this type of learning process. Time will be spent outlining ways in which teachers can conduct meaningful research on experiential educational strategies to determine their effectiveness in promoting student learning. The majority of time will be spent in small groups to share experiences, record ideas, and develop a written summary of the workshop to be published as a white paper for other interested teachers in the society. Small groups will each design one prototype experiential learning activity to share with the others. Participants will leave the workshop with resources they can use to immediately develop experiential learning activities and put them into action on their own campuses.
