DRAINMOD is a process based, distributed, field scale model developed to describe the hydrology of drained and poorly drained soils, including wetlands. The model is based on water balances in the soil profile and on the field surface. This presentation will briefly describe the model and the algorithms that are used to quantify the various hydrologic components. Application of DRAINMOD to analyze wetland hydrology will be demonstrated. Results will be used to evaluate the reliability of methods proposed to determine wetland hydrologic status from water table measurements.
