Duke Energy Convention Center, Room 252, Level 2
The discussion will be from the perspective of an irrigation manufacturer and will begin with a brief discussion of the history of sensors in production irrigated agriculture. The next part will be a development of the evolution in sensor application leading to where the irrigation industry is today. Material will be presented on the current state of the art uses of sensors for irrigation scheduling, variable rate irrigation, and general irrigation management that are offered by manufacturers. This will include both wired and wireless. Discussion will look at how sensors are being integrated into the irrigation equipment for production application. General information will be presented on recent market trends and adoption by market segments and some suspected roadblocks to wider spread adoption of the newer sensor technologies. The presentation will close by exploring the direction one manufacturer is considering for the future and anticipated challenges as newer technologies are developed.
