Annual Committee Meeting of ACS 528 - Diversity in Agronomy, Crops, Soils and Environmental Sciences Committee
Committee Meetings (Society and Other) The Diversity in Agronomy, Crops, Soils and Environmental Sciences Committee (ACS 528), previously known as Minorities in Agronomy Committee, was established more than a decade ago with the following objectives: (1). To encourage involvement and participation by minority students and professionals in the Tri-Societies’ programs and activities; (2). To raise awareness among Tri-Societies members of ACS528 Committee’s goals, activities and contributions to science and society. During the Annual meetings of the Tri-Societies, the ACS 528 Committee conducts its Annual Meeting to convene members, present accomplishments during the year, plan and discuss past and future projects, elect new officers/leaders for the committee, and recognize minority poster participants and awardees. The presentation of posters and awards for the Minority Student Poster Competition is one of the important activities during the Diversity Committee (ACS 528) Annual meeting. The competition goals are to encourage involvement and participation by minority students in the Tri-Societies’ programs and activities. The posters are displayed outside the room where the annual meeting of the ACS 528 Committee is held. Three winners from this poster competition are awarded during the ACS 528 Annual Meeting. The date selected for this year's ACS 528 Annual Meeting is October 22 which will also include the recognition of the Minority Student Poster Competition winners. A separate proposal has been submitted for the cash awards for the winners of the 'Minority Student Poster Competition'.Cosponsor(s):
