Cover crops have many benefits for soil and water conservation, such as erosion control, additions to organic matter content, improved aggregation, and potential soil compaction alleviation. Few different cover crops species are commonly used in Pennsylvania, however. In this research we evaluated the biomass production of 7 different cover crops established at three different times in the fall. We simulated three termination dates in the spring by harvesting biomass at three different times. The cover crops were evaluated in central and southern Pennsylvania. Results of evaluations over the past three years will be presented.
