Improving US Crop Production with Hydra-Hume®- a Humic Acid Formulation.

Hydra-Hume^® is a novel humic acid formulation developed by Horizon Ag Products and sold by Helena Chemical Company. Over the past decade Hydra-Hume and its sister formulations have been evaluated in over 150 replicated small plot and 600 large scale field experiments throughout the US. Evaluations have been conducted in all major agronomic crops along with several fruit and vegetable crops. Research has focused on determining the proper formulation, rate, and timing of application for each cropping system that would increase yields over the grower standard or check. Representative small plot and field trial data from the various cropping systems are discussed. Yield increases of up to 15% above the grower standard fertility program have been achieved in some cropping systems. Hydra-Hume and its sister formulations are generally applied as a component of the recommended fertilizer blend or in conjunction with the fertilizer application. These novel humic acid formulations have demonstrated their value as components of a comprehensive fertility program designed to maximize production in numerous cropping systems grown in a wide range of environments.
