Abstract:
The Langmuir equation is used extensively in research. In our efforts to understand the adsorption processes involved, the Langmuir adsorption isotherm is often the first adsorption model applied to the data. How well it performs will strongly influence the direction of subsequent research or modeling efforts. However, efforts to obtain the best Langmuir parameters often fail due to a lack of understanding of the limitations of the various regression methods available. If one seeks a rigorous review of the Langmuir Isotherm in the classroom, then this should also include a rigorous review of regression methods. This presentation will review several ideas of how to achieve this goal in the classroom.
