Making Good Things Better: Some Reflections On Bert Tanner's Role in LI-COR's Instrumentation Development.

Bert Tanner had a long-time passion for micrometeorology, and he boldly led Campbell Scientific into the world of Bowen Ratio systems, sonic anemometers, eddy covariance systems, and trace gas analyzers. Along the way, Bert helped lure LI-COR into this same arena, as he found ways to use our gas analyzers in some of these systems. The resulting interactions were interesting, educational, sometimes challenging, but always worthwhile - and just plain fun. His passing is a real loss to the community, but his memory, his passion, and his approach to science continue to motivate and challenge us all.
