Abstract:
Corn and Grain Sorghum were planted in various densities and geometries at Tribune, KS in 2008 and 2009. Geometries include conventional 30” rows, Plant 1 Skip 1 skip-row, Plant 2 Skip 2 skip-row, clump, and a skip-clump hybrid design. On-farm research plots evaluating clump and conventional grain sorghum were placed at three additional locations in western Kansas. The effects of planting geometry on light interception and leaf temperature will be reported on for the current year. Yield and physiological yield components will be discussed across multiple years of data with various corn and sorghum geometry studies dating to 2004.
