Poster Session
S05 PedologyPedological research has relied heavily upon qualitative and semi- quantitative descriptions of soil morphology and architecture. While this approach is scientific, systematic, and useful for the development of conceptual understandings of pedogenic processes, it has limited application to predictive models because of the non- numeric nature of the data generated from such descriptions. Clearly, a more numeric, multi-dimensional approach is needed to characterize soil morphology. This session will focus on the application of promising new technology and experimental and statistical techniques to better quantify, model, and predict pedological parameters over a variety of scales.
