End-of-season plant mapping can reveal a variety of in-season growth and reproductive characteristics in cotton.  However, the process is considered time-consuming, and there are several technical questions to be considered.  Some of these are the number of plants to be sampled, proper techniques for storage, the influence of rotten or missing bolls, and methods for adequately presenting the complex data that can result.  This paper discusses these challenges and some of the solutions our research group has found in box mapping research.
