Soybean cyst nematode (SCN) and root knot nematode are economically important pests throughout the United States.  Our objective was to determine the effect of cultivar selection and nematicides on soybean yield in fields infested with SCN race 1 or 4 or RKN.  Experiments were conducted from 2007 through 2010 to evaluate aldicarb soil insecticide and thiodicarb + imidacloprid and abamectin + thiamethoxam seed treatments on soybean cultivars with and without resistance to nematodes.  Cultivar was most effective in preventing soybean yield loss.  Seed treatments did not prevent yield loss, but aldicarb usually increased yields over the control, especially with non-resistant cultivars.
