Multiple Widestrike Roundup Flex and Bollgard II Liberty Link varieties are to be evaluated for  effects on cotton plant development and yield impact from the use of glufosinate herbicide.  Both of these  The Widestrike technology featured in transgenic cotton varieties by Dow AgroSciences carries some inherant tolerance to glufosinate herbicide (Ignite), a broad specturm, post-emerge herbice by Bayer Crop Sciences.  Although neither Phytogen Seed nor Bayer CropSciences, recommend the applicaiton of Ignite over-the-top of Phytogen Widestrike varities, growers in many areas are utilizing this as an additional post-emergence weed mangement too, especially in areas where there are concerns of Roundup resistant weeds.  This trial was established to determine the effects of broadcast Ignite herbicide applications would have on transgenic Widestike cotton varieties grown under irrigated conditions in SE Texas.
