ASA Section: Biometry and Statistical Computing The focus of the proposed symposium is statistical applications in soil science, with particular emphasis on, but not limited to, soil carbon. Correct statistics has never been more critical for soil science research. Proper replication, statistical power, allocation of resources, and ever present spatial correlation are potential issues. This symposium will provide an opportunity for soil scientists with statistical expertise and statisticians interested in soil science to share their thoughts about optimal statistical tools for soil research and an opportunity for soil scientists to learn about such tools. The symposium will include invited talks, and joint case-study presentations from soil scientist/statistician teams.
