ASA Section: Environmental Quality The P-index concept is widely used to evaluate the risk of P loss from agricultural fields. Because there are nearly 50 permutations of P-indices in use, scientists and federal agencies have requested that all P indices be evaluated to determine if they are directionally and magnetically correct when compared with independently quantified P losses. The goal of the symposium is to highlight the results of P-index evaluations and encourage further quantitative evaluation and improved interpretation of P-indices. Presentations could include comparison of P-Indices with field and modeled data, P-index rankings relative to farm and watershed P imbalances, uniformity of P-index interpretation, and integration of P-indices in GIS frameworks.Cosponsor(s):
