A decade of yield maps and site-specific management of inputs have produced acres of data but little understanding of yield variation and how to adequately manage the information.  Ultimately, the value proposition for precision agriculture is lacking due to the storage, presentation, inadequate analytics and integration of the data into management information systems.  Solutions include standardization of data in a data base format which is conducive to analytics and provide data in actionable formats which enhance farm management.  Our intent is to outline the data rich information dilemma for precision agriculture and suggest potential paths forward for realizing a strong value proposition for this important technology on the farm.
