Jim Ryan’s career was multi-faceted: multi-targeted, multi-pathway, multi-media, and multi-use. Among the numerous talents and characteristics that contributed to his long and productive career are some used to characterize organic chemical hazard. A discussion of Ryan’s characteristics (persistence, bioaccumulation, and toxicity) in the context of biosolids-borne organic chemical risk will be provided and assessed.  Selected case studies will be used to validate the risk assessment.
