Wilmington College Agronomy Club Poster Abstract

Clinton County, Ohio has many programs for growing food locally and buying local goods.  The Wilmington College Agronomy Club in conjunction with the Center for Innovative Food Technology (CIFT) is promoting high density vertical growing systems to local businesses and organizations in an effort to get them to grow food locally.  As a club we helped with the assembly and planning of the systems.  Throughout the project, data was collected so that at the end of the growing season the viability and return of investment on these vertical systems could be determined.  The vertical garden systems were located at the General Denver Hotel for use in the restaurant, the Clinton County Homeless Shelter for use in the kitchen, and at the Cape May Retirement Community for use by residents.  The main goals of the project was for our club to communicate with the location directors to determine what and how much to plant in each system, assemble the systems at each location, and lastly to produce a collection of data that could be used for further promoting the high density vertical growing systems in the Wilmington Area.
