The University of Kentucky has conducted annual corn yield contests as a means of identifying sound crop management practices. The yield contest provides an understanding of yield potential. Producers are asked to include agronomic information with their contest entries. Yield contest agronomics were compared to University recommendations in an attempt to identify common practices that may contribute to greater yield potential. In addition, limited economic analyses were conducted to determine when and if additional agronomic practices justified the expense.
