A wide range of challenges are faced in the measurement of  greenhouse gas emissions from soils.  These challenges include selection of appropriate instrumentation and sampling protocols, availability of affordable instrumentation, and dealing with measurement error and variation. A large focus will be on the approaches used among the scientific community to address issue related spatial and temporal variation in emissions.
