While it is acknowledged that there is a wide amount of variability in urban soil landscapes, urban soils are often lumped together in terms of land use management.  There often is variability between urban soil management of different geographic regions.  In 2010 and 2011, urban soil surveys were conducted in the cities of Cleveland and Cincinnati, Ohio.  There was a wide variety of parent materials within the two cities, which was expected.  However, there also was a wide variety of urban soil management that increased the variability of soil physical and chemical properties within these cities as well.  These difference pose challenges for both the investigator in these cities as well the land use management of these urban soil resources.
