Abstract:
Maize (Zea mays L.), is the food base of Mexicans; however, during its cultivation, storage and processing, the quality is affected by factors such as, humidity and temperature, favoring the occurrence of fungal pathogens of the genus Aspergillus, Fusarium or Penicillium. Three varieties of maize were used: red, blue and yellow; aliquots of each sample were treated with two different clays BA1 and FRI; in another treatment the clay was used in suspension and it was applied as spray; each treatment had a blank. All samples were subjected to stress storage conditions. The results showed that the treatment applied to each of the samples presented 40% of efficiency, since despite the application of the clay mold growth was notorious.
