219 Controlling Nutrient Losses From The Mississippi River Valley

ASA Section: Environmental QualityNutrient enrichment of the outlow from the Mississippi River has been implicated in Hypoxia in the Gulf of Mexico, and rnoff from agricultural land contributes to that enrichment.  Effective and economical methods will be required to avoid, control and treat nitrogen and phosphorus losses from the Mississippi River watershed to meet water quality guidelines while maintaining crop productivity.
