Micronutrient fixation is a chemical process that occurs over time leading to gradual reduction of the plant-available portion in the soil. Evidence gathered suggests that micronutrient fixation in soils can be described by simple kinetic models. The present research was conducted to determine plant available (DTPA extractable) Fe, Mn, Cu, and Zn over a period of three months in six semi-arid alkaline soils of the Southern High Plains (SHP).The data obtained will be fitted to kinetic equations to provide more insights into the dynamics of these micronutrients in the semi-arid alkaline soils of the SHP. Furthermore, relationships among plant-available micronutrients and major soil properties such as pH, electrical conductivity, organic matter content, texture, calcium carbonates, total C, etc., will be elucidated.
