By-Product Gypsum (BPG) can be used to fertilize grazing lands with calcium and sulfur, and has been shown to be effective in remediating subsoil acidity.  Care should be taken when BPG is applied to grazing lands where forage selenium nutrition for livestock is important, as high levels of sulfate have an antagonistic effect on plant selenium uptake. This work presents the results of a greenhouse study on the effects of selenium fertilizer uptake by common bermudagrass when co-applied with FGD gypsum.
