The digital soil maps being developed as part of the Integrating Spatial Educational Experiences project are designed specifically for teaching and learning, both in the classroom and in the field. In this presentation we will demonstrate how we use digital soil maps on iPads to enhance teaching and learning in the classroom. We will show how we present soil geomorphic concepts with traditional PowerPoint slides, then immediately reinforce those concepts by having students identify the features or concepts on the digital maps on their iPads. In short, we connect the lecture concepts to the maps. In the following presentation, we will discuss how we connect the maps to the actual features in the field.
