Design of irrigation and tile draianagesystems are based upon observed soil and water characteristics. The investigating soil scientist, engineer, or other professional provides estimated soil waater movement rates dependent on observed soil characteristics for most systems. The common measurement methods used are often cumbersome or fragile. The Aardvark Soils Borehole Permeameter and Double Ringed Infiltrometer are designed to be rugged and transportable, with the option for manual or automated use that greatly increases production rates and report capability. Testing at The University of Georgia’s new Department of Crop and Soil Sciences Department research farm, The Iron Horse Farm, is successfully, and quickly, acquiring design data for irrigation and tile drainage.
