Kelly R. Whiting, United Soybean Board, Chesterfield, MO
Currently, soybean production research data and information is scattered across numerous web sites and data sources. A research database developed by the United Soybean Board (USB) will provide one central comprehensive resource containing all U.S. public research and information on soybean. This will encompass conventional breeding and molecular genetics, protection of yield from disease, insect pests, parasitic nematodes, and abiotic stress, and improvement in the quantity and quality of the compositional characteristics of the seed, mainly protein and oil. The database will include a web-interface that provides ready access and search capability for agronomy practitioners and researchers alike. Research results will be summarized in both encyclopedic format for technical use, and also in condensed summary format for use by layman and for farm application.
