Over the last 5 years, canola oil has become the second largest oil use by the US food industry. This rise in demand has been driven by a number of factors including trans fat regulation, changes in dietary nutrition guidance and bio-diesel mandates. The canola industry is forecast to expand production by an additional 60% by 2025. New output traits in canola will continue to improve the competitiveness of the oilseed’s co-product streams expanding current markets and opening new opportunities.
