436 Organic Molecule Interactions with Mineral Surfaces As Key Regulators of Soil Processes: II

Poster Session
SSSA Division: Soil Chemistry
Interactions between mineral surfaces and organic matter partially regulate a number of key processes in soils, including the solubilization of nutrients, the sequestration of carbon, and the fate and transport of contaminants. This symposium seeks to broadly explore the interactions of natural and anthropogenic organic molecules with soil minerals from molecular mechanisms to field scale impacts. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, weathering and transformations of soil minerals by organic acids and biomolecules, formation and reactivity of organic matter-mineral complexes, sorption and transformation of organic contaminants at surfaces, and biogeochemical cycling of carbon as regulated by mineral surfaces.
