354 Resource Utilization in Multi-Crop Family Farm Systems
Oral Session
ASA Section: Agronomic Production SystemsMany small farms and small land holders have mixed cropping systems that have significantly different resource application and use patterns than are found in large-scale monocrop systems. These systems may employ true intercrops, relay crops, silvi-pasture, silvi-cropping, or simply several crops in small plots adjacent to one another. Crops compete in time and space for resources in these systems. Resources may include light, water, nutrients (native or applied), space, mechanical and human inputs, time, and others. This session invites presentations on all aspects of resource allocation in mixed crop farm systems.
