Abstract:
Solheim will read selected original poems that focus on soil, land forms, and agricultural practices as subjects or images in the creative work.  Solheim has published two chapbooks and four full length collections of poetry and taught in the North Dakota University System for 30 years, most of that time at Dickinson State University.  He was also a visiting professor at Northwest University of Agriculture and Forestry in Yangling, Peoples Republic of China.  In his adolescence he worked summers on the farms of several relatives in central North Dakota.  He has recently retired from teaching and lives in south central Minnesota where he continues writing and publishing.  The locations and varied experiences above inform much of his writing and especially the selections for this conference.
