Abstract:
Our society is facing tremendous obstacles in the near future such as; climate change, land degradation and feeding a global population that is expected to reach 9 billion by the middle of this century. Sustainable solutions require an educated population-base capable of making informed decisions about soil and land resources. At the same time, soil survey is expanding into new areas such as dynamic soil properties, carbon stock inventories, urban soil surveys and a global soil map. Soil survey information delivery must keep pace with these efforts to ensure that everything NCSS has worked for is clearly presented and effectively used. The challenge is to continue to develop products that are relevant to a diverse set of clientele.
