Abstract:
Significant potassium reserves were discovered in the Southern half of the Canadian Prairie Provinces just after World War II.  Today, these deposits represent nearly half of known world reserves.  The geological formation of these deposits is such that they provide a consistent ore body that is ideal for dry potassium mining.  The objective of this presentation is to provide a background on the nature of the ore body from a geological perspective, the current dry mining operations being utilized, and how fertilizer potassium products are manufactured.
