Abstract:
Soil Scientists have a unique ecologic perspective on the natural environment as a holistic, complex, and interrelated ecosystem. Thus, Soil Scientists are natural Interdisciplinary Team Coordinators and Managers due to the ability to tie together the interaction of many interrelated scientific and professional disciplines. The roles and needs for Professional Soil Scientists in the ever expanding and increasingly complex world of environmental services is growing, while the available reserve of those same professionals is dwindling. This presentation explores the opportunities, challenges, successes and rewards for Professional Soil Scientists in Environmental Consulting and both defines the path to this profession and identifies the need for increasing our recruitment and output of qualified Professional Soil Scientists.
