Abstract:
As consumers take a greater interest in how and where their food is grown, the agricultural supply chain is increasingly working together to define, measure and advance sustainable outcomes at the farm level.  Field to Market: The Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture is the largest multi-stakeholder initiative working across the ag supply chain to advance the sustainability of commodity crop production.  The scientific community has an important role to play by assisting in the development of science based sustainability metrics that help to demonstrate progress and identify opportunities for improvement at the field and landscape scales.
