Abstract:
As an agency, the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) works with farmers, ranchers, and landowners providing technical and financial assistance with the planning and implementation of conservation practices. These practices address natural resource concerns or opportunities to help save energy, improve soil, water, plant, air, animal and related resources on agricultural lands and non-industrial private forest land. Advancing nutrient management planning and addressing growing concerns about the environmental impacts of nutrients lost from agricultural systems are two ongoing challenges for NRCS. By offering voluntary, non-regulatory services, NRCS has an opportunity to make strides in conservation efforts related to nutrient management.
