The in-season variability of ground cover, climatic conditions, and soil moisture conditions are parameters that needed to be examined in the development of the new 3D crop water stress index (CWSI). A planar technique was investigated and indices were calculated. This technique serves as a standardized approach to discriminate degree of stress and soil information characteristics.
