The Town of Gilbert, Arizona, has been recharging reclaimed waste water to replenish its aquifers since 1989. The process of replenishing groundwater has opened up a multitude of opportunities to enrich and educate the community. An evolutionary process has occurred in the design, construction, and operation of the Town’s three recharge sites that has included involvement of special interest groups, citizens, and local universities and colleges. The Town’s three recharge sites enjoy strong citizen and political support.
