Winter canola requires adequate N for optimal yield. It is
a new crop for Ohio
and the proper N rate is unknown. The variety ‘Wichita'
was established near Custar and/or Fremont, OH
from 2003 – 2004 and 2006 – 2009. All
plots received 22.4 – 33.6 kg ha-1 of fall N. Except for 2003, a N rate curve with eight rates was established from 0
to156.8 kg ha-1 at increments of 22.4 kg ha-1. In 2003, a curve with 5 rates was established
from 0 to 134.4 kg ha-1 at increments of 33.6 kg ha-1.
Experimental design was a completely randomized block replicated four times.
Optimum N rate was calculated for each year.
