The commonly used pulse and step inputs as boundary condition of influent to columns have not been applied in the frequency domain method to study the transport processes in porous media.  Simulation and laboratory experiments were carried out to compare the accuracy in the identification of transport processes with time domain method.  The transport processes included convection-dispersion equation (CDE) and mobile-immobile model (MIM).  Results showed that the estimates by the two methods were close to each other, and thus, the frequncy domain method is an alternative way for the data analysis of solute transport in porous media.
