Soilscapes of Cyprus represent the progressive emergence of the island out of the eastern Mediterranean Sea over the past ca. 5 Ma.  Soil taxa concentrically ring the island and its two major mountain ranges, with the most well-developed soils in the intermediate / footslope positions. Results of 15 years of field study of the entire island are presented.
