Online education is a growing field of interest.  Science-based courses require detailed exercises for students to fully comprehend concepts. Wetland soils, which engage the primary sciences of biology, chemistry, and physics, engage in concepts that require even more attention to detail for student success.  Seven years of teaching online soils at the university and junior college levels has revealed weaknesses and strengths in teaching soils online.  This paper addresses the successes and pitfalls of online soils education and provides some ideas for engaging students in wetland soils online.
