353 Physics, Chemistry, and Ecology of Seasonally Frozen Soils: I - Have We Ignored the Role of Winter and Spring on Soil Processes at Our Peril?

Oral Session
S03 Soil Biology & Biochemistry As latitude increases, the annual soil temperature regime becomes a strong influence on natural and agricultural systems. Physical and chemical properties, water and nutrient movements, and soil ecology are all affected by freezing and thawing processes in northern landscapes. This topical session explores the effects of winter and spring conditions on soil physical, chemical, and ecological processes and how climate change affects these soil processes.
