Mitigation of Greenhouse Gas Emissions by Agriculture and Forestry: Economic Explorations.

Symposium Title: Mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions in managed systems

This presentation will present economic information on the issues surrounding potential agricultural, agroforestry and forestry participation in the mitigation of greenhouse gas emissions from managed systems. The presentation will explore the role of alternative strategies as they vary across different market condition plus the role of fungibility, opt in policy and transaction costs. Comments will also be made about the role of mitigation versus adaptation with respect to the climate change issue.
