The Early Effects of Bioenergy Sorghum Production on Greenhouse Gas Emission and Carbon Sequestration Funge Dou, Jason Wight, and Frank Hons Biogenergy sorghum production may affect greenhouse gas emission and carbon sequestration. Life cycle analysis for bioenergy sorghum production requires accurate information about C cycling in each sector. Our four-yr preliminary data indicates that management practices including crop rotation and N fertilization significantly affected GHG emission and C sequestration. A biogeochemical model (DAYCENT) is used to predict such effects in bioenergy sorghum production in South Central U.S. DAYCENT model was calibrated by 4-yr site measurements along data from other publications. The sensitivity of GHG and C sequestration to soil texture and C sequestration was analyzed too.
