Abstract:
In the past few years, Auburn University has initiated a program called 'Writing in the Curriculum' in which critical writing skills are taught as a part of the student's undergraduate major.  In Agronomy and Soils this initiative has been included in our Introductory Crop Science, Turfgrass Management and Weed Science courses, among others.  Writing assignments have included laboratory reports, answers to 'grower type' e-mail queries, and mock extension information reports.  This presentation will discuss student reaction to these assignments, issues with grading and assessment, and overall results from the program.
