Abstract:
Located in the heart of one of the most beautiful and productive agricultural areas in the nation, SRJC’s Agriculture and Natural Resources Department reflect the bounty of Sonoma County. Founded in 1969, the department has grown to the largest community college agriculture program in California with more than 2,500 students enrolled annually.

The department includes of the following program areas: Agribusiness, Animal Science, Equine Science, Environmental Conservation, Environmental Horticulture, Sustainable Agriculture, Veterinary Technician, Viticulture, and Wine Studies. In each program, a variety of certificates and majors are available. Shone Farm, 365 acres of farmlands, pasture, vineyards, and riparian forest in the Russian River Valley, serves the department as an outdoor learning lab and includes a winery and equine facility. SRJC's Culinary Arts program which enrolls mroe than 1000 students, works as an integrla part of agriculture program to provide a "Farm to Table" experience to its students.
