Abstract:

Just as soil is an integral and integrating element of all terrestrial ecosystems, so too is soil science situated at a critical intersection between many other fields of research which collectively inform human landscape management decisions and policy.  The authors will share their experience and observations from plant and sustainability sciences, reflecting on opportunities for moving beyond disciplinary boundaries in valuing and studying soils as critical and interactive components of agroecosystems.
